COURSE INTRODUCTION
The Diploma in Hotel Management aims to provide students with a broad understanding of the operational aspects of the international hotel industry, and a knowledge of the underlying principles involved. At the Advanced level, it will provide students with an understanding of the managerial decision making and leadership aspects of the international hotel industry and to develop independent research and study skills which will be required when working at senior management level in the industry.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Understand the food and beverage operations within a hotel with basic knowledge of food science, hygiene and nutrition
Understand the role of front office and reception in a hotel and the facilities and accommodation services within a hotel
Knowledge of costing and control systems, staffing and supervisory aspects of the industry
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Understand the variety of food & beverage operations in the industry and the skills required to manage them effectively.
Understand all stages of the guest cycle as it relates to front office.
Understand the strategic process applied in the Hospitality industry by analyzing internally and externally and Implementing strategic measures.
Demonstrate knowledge of the main generating and receiving countries and the flow between them.
Understand the role of the government and the political environment.
AWARD OF CERTIFICATE
Certificate will be awarded by the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality upon successful completion of all modules and a CTH Certificate in work experience on successful completion of the industrial attachment
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Upon completion of the Advanced Diploma, graduates will be suited for employment in a management capacity within the hospitality sector, hotels, resorts, restaurants, events and convention centres, or continue on to further study with a Bachelor in Hotel Management programme.
