Preparatory Course for Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

Course Introduction
Students will learn various key grammatical structures, practice their listening skills at the small dialogue level, and learn several important reading strategies in a communicative setting, all of which will provide them with the tools to be more efficient TOEFL Test takers.
Course Objectives
- Practice listening skills through dialogues which involve sound confusion, homonyms, idioms, inference questions, agreement, disagreement, plans, topics, problems, and special verbs.
- Learn various key grammatical structures, such as word forms, word choice, verbs, participles. gerunds, infinitives, simple forms, pronouns, singular and plural nouns, preporitions, articles, and word order.
- Learn various important reading strategies, such as overview, detail, negative, scanning, inference, and purpose strategies.
Course Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students are expected to:
- Develop greater oral communication skills
- Understand and use new idiomatic expressions
- Understand and use new vocabulary
- Develop listening strategies and skills
- Have a greater understanding of the rules of pronunciation of Amerian English
- Develop a greater understanding of American etiquette, values, and gestures
Course duration
3 months (12 weeks) - 3 hours per day.
